Italy’s olive trees are dying due to a pathogen. An rising plant pathogenic bacterium called Xylella fastidiosa is responsible for a number of economically significant diseases around the globe. Since its discovery in Europe in 2013, it has killed millions of Italian olive trees and is still spreading throughout the impacted area.
